When Amazon came in and built its headquarter’s in downtown Seattle, the city saw many of its unique and charming frontier town turned grunge establishments torn down and replaced by cookie cutter hotels. The people behind the Marqueen are instead carefully restoring a classic Seattle hotel in such a way that it retains its authenticity and quirky personality. This hotel is not for everyone There are no elevators, the floorboard squeak a bit, but it’s spectacularly charming. Rumors have it The Marqueen may even have ghosts! The spacious room had everything I needed - a very comfortable large bed, floor to ceiling drapes - beautiful big mirror, walking shower, enormous closet, tall ceilings and spotlessly - meticulously - clean. Though renovations are under way, that activity did not interrupt my stay in any way. Easy to get to by a short bus ride or monorail to the Seattle Center from downtown, the Marqueen is in a fun neighborhood that has good restaurants and cafes and attractions including Seattle Repertory. The Marqueen is a gem of a place and a great find. I highly recommend this hotel for a uniquely Northwest stay.

Even though Seattle is in Washington State, when I walked into the MarQueen Hotel where I was staying, it felt like I'd stepped into the atmosphere of the famous 'Hotel California' song. The hotel's vibe seemed to have this timeless and mysterious feel, similar to what's described in the song. As soon as I entered, it was like being transported to another era. The place had this old-world charm with dim lights and fancy decorations that made you wonder about its history. Despite being far from California, the MarQueen Hotel had this uncanny ability to make you feel like you were part of a captivating story, leaving a lasting impression of fascination and wonder. Marqueen has not paid me for this I wrote all about my travel to Seattle on my blog https://www.muzzytravels.com/destinations/usa/seattle

I was in Seattle to attend several Hockey games at Climate Pledge Arena. The hotel is a 5min walk away and very close to restaurants and bars. The Space Needel is 10min walk and the whole area felt safe and nice even as a woman travelling alone. The hotel is old but has its own charm. I loved that the room had a small kitchen with a decent size fridge, coffee machine and utensils. The bed was super comfortable and the room, while dated in its furniture, was kept clean. The staff was super friendly and helpful, there are umbrellas to borrow and they are very helpful to give out information if needed. The hotel was quite pricey for what it offers but you pay for the location!

We loved this spaciousness of the apartment-like rooms and the history associated with this building. The thick walls made our room very soundproof despite being located directly over the street. They were undergoing extensive renovations at the time; we would love to visit when these are completed. The door man was so knowledgable and helpful (thank you again). We could leave our car parked and walk to the World's Fair Site (and therefore get to museums and take the monorail to Pike's Place) from here. We enjoyed a very good restaurant "Sal Y Limon" (twice!) just a few steps around the corner.

Charming historic hotel. The room was huge and had a kitchen. Everything was exceptionally clean which surprised me for an older hotel. The hotel staff was the best I had ever encountered.(And I've stayed in a lot of hotels). The doorman was exceptional and a wealth of historical knowledge. Close to Kerry Park & The Space Needle etc. and a great Grocery Market and restaurants all within walking distance. They are in the midst of remodeling the hotel. But I hope they save most of those unique historic aspects that allow you to remember how it used to be.
